Radiology Tech – SSM Health
Location: MO-SSM Health St. Mary's Hospital – St. Louis
Worker Type: Regular
Schedule: Full time, days
Sign-on Bonus: $10,000 paid on first paycheck
Pay Range: Starts at $26.72/hour
Job SummaryTakes x‑rays of designated parts of the human body for diagnostic purposes and provides support to the imaging department. Performs plain films, fluoroscopy, portables, operating room exams, and bone density studies (BD registry required).
Job Responsibilities- Explains procedures to patients and provides educational material.
- Transports patients to and from clinical areas and verifies patient identity according to policies and procedures.
- Prepares patients for radiology exams by positioning them appropriately.
- Follows radiation safety procedures and guidelines to prevent unnecessary exposure.
- Prepares and administers contrast media and medications within the accepted scope of practice and applicable regulations.
- Observes patients during procedures, reports abnormal activity, and monitors protocols to recommend updates or refinements.
- Ensures prompt submission of high‑quality images and documentation to PACS, including correct lead markers and patient data.
- Maintains equipment functionality, reports problems or malfunctions, and lock‑out/tag‑out equipment as required.
- Maintains a clean, orderly department, including procedure rooms, storage areas, and dressing rooms.
- May perform limited CT procedures in emergent situations when a CT technologist is not on site.
- Works in a constant state of alertness and safety.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Completion of a Radiology Technology program within 6 months of hire date.
- No experience required.
- Certifications:
ARRT‑R Radiography, ARRT‑BD Bone Density, Basic Life Support Health Care Provider (BLS HCP) – American Heart Association.
- Constant standing and walking.
- Frequent use of vision and depth perception for near and distant distances.
- Frequent use of hearing and speech for oral communication and to distinguish body sounds and alarms.
- Frequent lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 0–25 lbs and occasional lifting of 25–50 lbs.
- Frequent reaching, gripping, and keyboard use/data entry.
- Occasional bending, stooping, squatting, twisting, and repetitive foot/leg and hand/arm movements.
- Rare kneeling and sitting.
