CLA is looking for a Controller with experience in State & Local Government Industry to join our Client Accounting & Advisory Services (CAAS) group in St. Louis, MO
. Our CAAS - State & Local Government team provides accounting, finance and treasury services to local towns, cities and school districts.
- Act as the Controller for the designated clients you service.
- Take on the role of consultant and advisor to your clients on best practices for accounting and finance-related engagements.
- Provide project management expertise by managing multiple clients, work, and deadlines.
- Prepare and analyze client financial statements and make recommendations.
- Foster and build opportunities for our clients, communities, and people.
- Become an industry professional and attend industry-leading events and trainings.
- Maintain knowledge of the client's organizational policies and procedures, federal and state policies and directives, and current accounting standards.
- Experience: 6 years of relevant accounting and/or financial experience is required. Relevant experience in State & Local Government is highly preferred.
- Education: Bachelor's degree required (preferably in Accounting, Finance, or related field). A combination of education, training and relevant experience may be accepted in lieu of degree.
- Certifications/Licenses: CPA is preferred but not required.

Competencies:
Maintains knowledge of client's organizational policies and procedures, federal and state policies and directives, and current accounting standards. Develop and maintain a thorough working knowledge of accounting software packages. Maintains accounting technical knowledge related to the industry. - Travel: This position works primarily in-office and requires frequent local travel to/from client sites, as well as the possibility for occasional non-local or overnight travel for client visits, training, meetings and/or other business-related purposes.
