Kforce has a client in Saint Louis, MO that is seeking an Accountant III responsible for performing advanced and complex financial analysis, reporting, and accounting functions with minimal oversight. This role requires deep expertise in accounting principles, the ability to manage multiple priorities, and a proactive approach to problem‑solving.
Responsibilities- Maintains and oversees the accuracy of the general ledger and financial records; develops customized schedules to monitor specific general ledger accounts for financial managers.
- Prepares and reviews complex journal entries, including those related to accruals, allocations, and intercompany transactions.
- Prepares, analyzes, and interprets financial statements, ensuring compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and other regulatory standards.
- Performs advanced variance analysis, identifying trends, risks and opportunities.
- Generates and presents detailed financial reports to leadership; assists in the preparation of the quarterly financial package for the Board and third parties, including financial information, performance indicators, narratives of business events and variances.
- Assists in the development of annual budgets and periodic forecasts; performs monthly reviews of assigned cost‑center reports for accuracy and variance to budget for current and year‑to‑date balances.
- Ensures compliance with internal controls, company policies and external regulations.
- Leads the preparation of audit schedules and liaises with auditors during internal and external audits; assists with providing financial information, footnotes, and supplemental/statistical schedules.
- Supports cross‑functional teams with financial expertise on special projects; reviews outstanding invoices and discusses key operations with business staff regarding their respective department reports.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Finance (IT coursework preferred); graduate degree preferred.
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE), or Certified Management Accountant (CMA) preferred.
- Five years of related professional experience preferred; public transportation or governmental accounting preferred.
- In‑depth knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting standards.
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Quick Books) and advanced Microsoft Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, macros).
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for interacting with leadership and cross‑functional teams.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a dynamic environment.
- Experience with regulatory compliance such as Sarbanes‑Oxley Act (SOX) or International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), preferred.
- Expertise in financial modeling and data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau) preferred.
- An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience will be considered; additional requirements may be designated by position.
The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.

Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
