Scale Operator

Overview

SA Recycling is seeking Scale Operator to manage in-bound and out-bound truck-scale operations, develop positive customer relations, and support yard operations. The role requires a trustworthy, dependable team player who can take initiative and solve problems independently. This position may involve both indoor and outdoor work in varying weather and follows Metals Recycling Health, Safety, and Environmental standards.

• Weigh all trucks entering and leaving the recycling yard accurately while providing efficient, courteous service to suppliers and company drivers.
• Complete all required documentation for trucks and loads; maintain up-to-date logs; process weigh tickets for end-of-day processing.
• Participate in testing of scales for accuracy and report malfunctions or concerns to the General Manager.
• Process payments and keep precise records of all transactions.
• Assist suppliers with questions on pricing and materials accepted; maintain account contacts to promote ongoing business.
• Cross-train and back up other office personnel as needed.
• Punctual and regular attendance is required.

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Strong attention to detail to prevent data entry errors and to catch/correct them.
• Ability to develop and strengthen positive working relationships with suppliers and co-workers.
• Excellent phone etiquette and communication skills (verbal and written).
• Ability to work in a challenging environment, with good organizational and mathematical skills, basic negotiation skills, and the ability to multi-task.
• Intermediate understanding of Microsoft Office and the ability to learn industry-specific software.
• Bilingual (English & Spanish) a plus.
