We’re excited to welcome a new graduate Electrical Engineer to join our substation engineering team. This role is ideal for May 2026 Electrical Engineering graduates who are looking to launch their career in power and substation design with hands-on experience, mentorship, and real project exposure starting Summer 2026.
What Your Day Will Look Like- Create and modify one-line diagrams, three-line diagrams, control schematics, wiring diagrams, relay panel arrangements, and cable schedules for high-voltage substations (32.4–230kV).
- Support engineering and construction documentation for new substation installations and modifications, including bills of materials, yard layouts, plan and section views, and electrical details.
- Assist with substation grounding designs, including ground grids, rigid and strain bus, and raceway layouts.
- Support the design of auxiliary AC and DC power systems.
- Help develop and update technical specifications for major substation equipment such as power transformers, circuit breakers, and control houses.
- Collaborate with engineers across disciplines to support protection, control, and monitoring system integration.
- Participate in construction, testing, and commissioning support, gaining valuable field exposure.
- Apply field markups to as-built drawings and perform basic engineering calculations (e.g., voltage drop, CT burden, saturation, lighting, short-circuit) with guidance and mentorship.
- Travel up to 25%, depending on project needs.
- Take on additional responsibilities as assigned, with opportunities to learn across different project phases.
Essentials to Succeed:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering with an anticipated graduation date of May 2026.
- FE (Fundamentals of Engineering) exam preferred but not required.
- Coursework or familiarity with power systems, substations, or electrical design is a plus.
- Exposure to relevant standards such as NEC, NESC, IEEE, NEMA, and ANSI is beneficial.
- Strong problem-solving skills with a desire to learn and grow.
- Clear verbal and written communication skills.
- Valid driver’s license with ability to travel to project sites.
- Experience with AutoCAD and Excel is a plus but not required.
