Job DescriptionJoin Olsson’s Bridge team as a Senior Engineer and play a key role in our growth in Missouri, expanding our footprint to St. Louis.
The Bridge group works on a wide range of projects—including bridge and retaining walls, dams, storm and traffic structures, inspections, rehabilitations, load ratings, and construction engineering services. We facilitate designs on transportation projects such as grade separations, interchanges, and stream crossings for public and private clients throughout the Midwest.
As a Senior Engineer, you will spearhead technical excellence, serving as the lead engineer and trusted advisor on complex projects. Your responsibilities include providing high‑level design, overseeing quality assurance/control, managing scope, schedule, and budget, reviewing contracts, championing efficiency, curating technical resources, and fostering continuous improvement. You will also mentor less experienced staff, contribute to team building, and engage in client relations.
PrimaryResponsibilities
- Provide high‑level project design and review of complex project documents and design quality.
- Serve as a technical specialist, applying advanced engineering concepts and developing innovative solutions.
- Perform QA/QC to ensure designs meet all quality standards and project objectives.
- Conduct research in areas of considerable scope and complexity.
- Advise and direct staff on design approaches to fulfill project requirements.
- Collaborate to promote efficiencies and produce high‑quality work.
- Contribute to the development of engineering standards and/or guidelines within the team.
- Supervise, mentor, and review technical assignments of less experienced staff.

You bring to the team:
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to contribute and work well in a team.
- Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering.
- Master’s degree, or in pursuit, is a plus.
- 8+ years of relevant engineering experience.
- Registered Professional Engineer (PE).
- Experience with AASHTO LRFD Bridge Design and bridge analysis and design programs (LARSA, LEAP, BESA, SP‑Column, MDX, etc.).
- Expertise with MoDOT bridge projects.
- Familiarity with Micro Station software.
