Responsibilities
- Perform more complex calculations such as hydraulic calculations, traffic projections, piling or rebar calculations, or site earthwork balancing.
- Oversee and assist with water and sewer system designs for smaller private and larger municipal systems.
- Prepare grading and stormwater designs for commercial, industrial, and residential site plans.
- Coordinate and oversee the efforts for permit applications for a variety of municipalities.
- Lead design efforts for the analysis of Civil Engineering projects; utilize engineering software and tools to create detailed designs, specifications and calculations according to code requirements and IMEG standards.
- Interact with clients to understand their needs, gather project requirements and communicate technical information effectively; build and maintain client relationships through professional communication.
- Work as part of a project team to support the execution of consulting projects. Lead efforts in project planning, budgeting and scheduling tasks to meet deadlines and objectives; document design decisions and instructions from clients while monitoring project design progress as related to percent complete and fee expended.
- Analyze engineering problems and propose innovative solutions; collaborate with senior engineers and consultants to develop practical and efficient solutions.
- Provide in‑process design reviews of Civil Engineering design, calculations and specifications; implement IMEG quality control processes to ensure that engineering designs and solutions meet IMEG quality standards, industry standards and client requirements.
- Stay up to date with industry trends, emerging technologies and best practices in Civil Engineering; contribute to research, development and innovation efforts within IMEG.
- Prioritize safety and regulatory compliance in all aspects of engineering work; interpret state and local design criteria and apply it to the specific project needs; collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver integrated solutions.
- Identify potential project problems and seek advice from the Project Manager.
- Proficiency in design techniques, tools and concepts involved in the production of technical plans and specifications.
- Strong training and mentoring skills.
- Proficiency with industry‑standard engineering software and tools.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Attention to detail and problem‑solving skills.
- Eagerness to adapt to new challenges.
- Proficient with MS Office Suite including Word, Excel and Outlook.
- Ability to clearly communicate in both oral and written communication to individuals or groups.
- Ability to travel up to 15% with occasional overnight stays.
- Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Civil Engineering, or equivalent, required.
- Professional Engineer (PE) License preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience required, up to 10 years preferred, in the Civil Engineering and Construction industry.
