Position Overview
The Studio Instructional Lead is a full-time, in-person role that supports students in a technology-enabled classroom led by a virtual educator. This position blends the responsibilities of a building substitute, behavior interventionist, academic interventionist, and teacher assistant to ensure students remain engaged, supported, and successful throughout the school day.
The Studio Instructional Lead plays a critical role in maintaining a safe, structured learning environment while providing academic reinforcement and behavioral support to students.
Key Responsibilities- Classroom Supervision & Instructional Support — Supervise students in a classroom led by a virtual teacher
- Support implementation of daily lessons and learning activities
- Provide small-group and individual academic support
- Assist students in completing assignments and staying on task
- Reinforce instruction and clarify directions from the virtual educator
- Prepare instructional materials and classroom resources
- Academic Intervention — Provide targeted support for students needing additional academic assistance
- Monitor student progress and communicate challenges or successes to instructional staff
- Support students with special learning needs and follow provisions in IEPs or 504 plans when applicable
- Behavior Intervention & Student Support — Promote positive classroom behavior and reinforce school expectations
- Assist students in reflecting on behavioral choices and developing strategies to improve behavior
- De-escalate situations and support students experiencing emotional or behavioral challenges
- Collaborate with teachers and leadership to implement behavior plans
- Substitute Coverage — Serve as a building substitute when needed
- Provide classroom supervision and instructional continuity during teacher absences
- Ensure students remain engaged and productive during transitions or schedule changes
- Student Supervision — Monitor students during lunch, recess, hallway transitions, specials and enrichment periods, and field trips
- School Community Engagement — Communicate professionally with staff, students, and families
- Participate in professional development and team meetings
- Contribute to a positive and collaborative school culture
- Perform other duties as assigned
Required
- High school diploma or GED
- Ability to supervise and manage groups of students effectively
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to maintain a structured, supportive learning environment
- Commitment to student success and positive youth development
- Missouri Substitute Teacher Certification (or ability to obtain before starting)
Preferred
- Associate’s degree or higher
- Experience in education, tutoring, youth development, or behavior support
- Minimum 60 college credit hours preferred
- Classroom management and behavior support skills
- Strong problem-solving and conflict de-escalation abilities
- Flexibility in a fast-paced learning environment
- Comfortable utilizing technology and assisting with student device troubleshooting (wifi connectivity, projecting to screens, rebooting laptops/Chromebooks)
- Ability to collaborate with both virtual and in-person educators
