St. Gabriel the Archangel Catholic School is seeking a passionate, faith-filled, and dynamic Music Teacher to inspire our Kindergarten through 8th grade students. We are a vibrant Catholic school community dedicated to academic excellence, spiritual formation, and the development of the whole child.
Job Responsibilities- Teach general music classes to students in Kindergarten through 8th grade
- Develop age-appropriate lessons including but not limited to music theory, vocal performance, rhythm, movement, and appreciation
- Direct and prepare students for school liturgies, prayer services, concerts, and special events
- Lead and develop choir opportunities
- Integrate Catholic faith and values into music instruction
- Collaborate with faculty and parish staff to support the spiritual life of the school
- Plan and deliver engaging, standards-based music instruction
- Prepare students to sing and participate in weekly Mass and major liturgical celebrations
- Organize and direct at least two school concerts per year (e.g., Christmas and Spring programs)
- Introduce students to diverse musical styles, composers, and cultures
- Incorporate technology and creative movement into lessons as appropriate
- Maintain classroom management aligned with school policies
- Communicate effectively with parents, staff, and administration
- Support the mission and philosophy of Catholic education
- Bachelor’s degree in Music Education or related field (required)
- Valid teaching certification
- Religious certification or working towards it
- Experience teaching elementary and/or middle school music preferred
- Knowledge of Catholic liturgy and music preferred
- Practicing Catholic preferred
- Strong classroom management and organizational skills
- Ability to play piano or guitar for liturgical accompaniment preferred
- Joyful and enthusiastic presence
- Strong vocal and/or instrumental proficiency
- Ability to engage young learners through movement and interactive activities
- Commitment to fostering student confidence and creativity
- Collaborative spirit and professional demeanor
