JOB SUMMARY:
The Gifted Specialist identifies and nurtures high-potential learners, ensuring they receive the cognitive challenge and social-emotional support necessary to thrive. The Gifted Specialist develops students who exhibit precocious development of mental capacity and learning potential in areas of academics and provide enriching learning experiences that enhance the regular curriculum. This role serves as the primary case manager for identified gifted learners and also as a consultant to teachers on effective differentiation.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Teaches knowledge and skills and in all aspects of gifted education following the curriculum adopted by the Board of Education and other appropriate learning activities.
- Extends the curriculum as appropriate to meet students needs.
- Maintains familiarity with district and Missouri State standardized tests for the purpose of adapting curriculum to maximize student achievement on such tests.
- Teachers are expected to become familiar with the Board policies, rules, and procedures and the district curriculum so that they may be able to carry these into effective operation.

EDUCATION AND/OR
EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor's degree or higher.
- Missouri Teacher Certification in Gifted Education K-12 required.
- Three (3) or more years of successful classroom teaching experience in an elementary school setting.
COMPENSATION:
Salary will be determined based on education and years of experience. Salary for this position is in accordance with the 206-27 Certified Staff salary schedule. These are full-time contracted teaching positions with benefits.
