Position

5th Grade Teacher (2026–2027 School Year)
The St. Gerard Majella School is seeking a joyful, faith‑filled Catholic who feels called to serve in our school community as a 5th Grade Teacher for the 2026–2027 school year. The ideal candidate is passionate about forming young learners academically and spiritually, and is committed to creating a positive, structured, and mission‑driven classroom environment.

Position Overview

The 5th Grade Teacher will lead instruction across core subject areas, including religion, science, reading, math, social studies, and social‑emotional learning. This role requires a strong understanding of elementary education, a love for teaching, and a dedication to integrating Catholic values into daily classroom life. The teacher will work collaboratively with colleagues and administration to support student growth and uphold the school’s mission.

Responsibilities
  • Teach 5th grade curriculum across multiple subject areas.
  • Integrate Catholic teachings, prayer, and faith formation into daily instruction.
  • Create a welcoming, structured, and engaging classroom environment.
  • Plan and deliver lessons that support academic rigor and student understanding.
  • Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners.
  • Support students’ social and emotional development through positive guidance and relationship‑building.
  • Communicate regularly with parents/guardians regarding student progress and classroom expectations.
  • Collaborate with faculty and staff to support school initiatives and student success.
  • Maintain accurate records, assessments, and documentation as required.
  • Participate in professional development, staff meetings, and school community events.
Qualifications
  • Practicing Catholic committed to the mission and teachings of the Church.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education (required).
  • Religious Education Certification preferred or willingness to pursue certification.
  • Strong communication, classroom‑management, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to create a positive, faith‑centered learning environment.
  • Experience teaching at the elementary level preferred.
