As a SPED Instructional Care Aide, you’ll be the steady, encouraging presence students rely on—both in the classroom and beyond it.
What You’ll DoThis role is more than a job—it’s meaningful work that changes lives. You’ll partner closely with teachers to create a safe, supportive, and engaging learning environment. Your daily impact will include:
- 🚌 Student Guidance:
Support students during transitions, recess, meals, specialized classes, and community outings. - đź“‹ Behavior Support:
Help implement behavior plans, monitor progress, and reinforce positive strategies. - đź§ Academic Assistance:
Assist with testing, small-group learning, reading activities, and classroom engagement. - đź§Ľ Health & Hygiene Care:
Provide essential care such as feeding, toileting, lifting, and assisting with specialized medical needs. - đź§° Classroom Organization:
Keep materials organized and learning spaces ready for action. - 🗣️ Team
Collaboration:
Communicate student needs, support substitute teachers, and participate in conferences and training. - 📚 Professional Growth:
Attend workshops and specialized training to support IEP goals and expand your skills.
You’re someone who leads with heart, shows up with reliability, and isn’t afraid to dive in.
Required:
- Experience working with children
- Basic computer skills
Preferred:
- Experience in educational settings
- Tutoring experience with young children
You’ll qualify if you meet one of the following:
- 60+ college credit hours
- Associate’s degree or higher
- Passing score on the Missouri Para Pro or Paraprofessional Assessment
- Completion of Missouri’s online Substitute Training Program
- Valid Missouri Substitute Teaching Certificate
This role includes light physical activity:
- Ability to operate a motor vehicle
- Lift up to 10 lbs occasionally
- Walk or stand for extended periods
