Position Description: The Senior Producer develops and produces short and long-form content and special projects across Nine PBS digital platforms and our broadcast channel to tell stories that matter to the St. Louis region. The senior producer also hosts, curates, and produces Nine PBS specials, productions, and/or events for the organization.
Job Requirements Primary Responsibilities- Produce compelling stories for digital-first platforms and broadcast programs and specials.
- Shoot and edit videos for digital-first platforms (You Tube, Instagram, Tik Tok, Facebook) and direct shooters and editors for broadcast programs and specials airing on Nine PBS.
- Research, report, and write stories that reflect the voices and issues of the St. Louis region.
- Interview individuals in studio and field settings, ensuring accuracy and context.
- Develop content optimized for social media platforms, including providing strong metadata and SEO-optimized titles and descriptions.
- Have knowledge of community issues, stories, and trends.
- Lead and oversee content projects independently for digital and/or broadcast, including project treatment, plan, and meeting deadlines.
- Work with the content team to review performance and adapt strategies based on community feedback and trends.
- Inspire and engage new content formats and storytelling abilities.
- Attend community events or forums to stay connected to local stories.
- Pitch creative ideas for new projects and social content.
- Engage with donors and community at station events or community events.
- Work closely with other producers and departments to share and accept ideas and feedback.
- Experiment and innovate alongside digital team members.
Bachelor’s degree preferred with at least 8 years of experience, or Associate’s degree with more than 7 years of experience in Journalism, Production, Communications, Multimedia or other related fields. Proficient in Excel, PowerPoint, Word and other MS Office applications. Must have experience with Final Cut X, Adobe Premiere Pro, project management, and knowledge of editorial standards and ethics.
Hybrid ScheduleThis position is eligible for a hybrid schedule. Expected to be in the office at least 2-3 days per week and attend team meetings and all-staff meetings in person.
