A leading commercial general contractor with a strong healthcare portfolio is seeking an experienced Traveling Superintendent based out of the St. Louis area. This role will support ground-up hospital projects and major hospital additions across the Midwest and surrounding states.
This is an excellent opportunity for a field leader who thrives in complex healthcare environments and is experienced working in active hospital campuses.
Position SummaryThe Superintendent will be responsible for on-site leadership and execution of large-scale healthcare construction projects, including new hospital builds, bed tower expansions, and major additions. The ideal candidate has a proven track record managing complex healthcare projects with strict safety, infection control, and scheduling requirements.
Key Responsibilities- Lead day-to-day field operations for ground-up hospitals and large hospital additions
- Coordinate subcontractors, vendors, and field staff to maintain schedule and quality standards
- Develop and manage project schedules in collaboration with Project Management
- Ensure compliance with healthcare construction standards including ICRA protocols
- Oversee site safety and enforce company safety policies
- Conduct daily meetings, quality walks and coordination with hospital staff when applicable
- Manage inspections, punch lists and project closeout
- 7+ years of Superintendent experience in commercial construction
- Direct experience managing ground-up hospital projects or major hospital additions
- Strong knowledge of healthcare construction requirements (ICRA, phased construction, occupied renovations)
- Ability to travel as required for project assignments
Proficiency in construction scheduling software and project documentation tools - Strong leadership and communication skills
