Position Work Days: Monday – Friday when school is in session
Hours: 8:00am – 4:00pm
Salary: $17.68/hour
Position SummaryOur Nursery program is committed to creating a safe, nurturing and supportive environment for our faculty & staff children ages 0-3. For the second half of the school year, South City Community School will serve a total of five (5) faculty & staff children (6 children on Tuesdays) ranging in age from 2 months to 2 years. The ideal candidate will work alongside another Nursery staff member.
This position reports directly to the Assistant Head of School for Finance and Operations.
- Staff expected to be onsite and ready to accept children no later than 8:00am
- Ensuring the children have good hygiene and changing diapers as necessary
- Cleaning interactive areas throughout the day
- Preparing meals and snacks for the kids
- Organizing activities and providing a safe and fun environment
- Assisting other staff member(s) in keeping a schedule for the children to maintain throughout the day
- Keeping daily record of each child’s diaper/restroom usage, food and nap schedule plus any problems that may occur to report to parents each day
- Maintaining contact with the children’s parents and contacting them in the case of an emergency
- Dependable
- Caring and compassionate attitude when interacting with and caring for children
- Strong verbal communication and listening skills to converse with children, fellow professional caregivers and parents or guardians
- Excellent patience and stamina for keeping up with the demands of children of all ages
- Advanced multitasking and organizational skills to handle multiple children at a time
- Mainly indoors unless age group is such where outdoor activities and playground use can be applicable
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs depending on size of children in Nursery care
- Valid CPR and first-aid certifications (SCCS will provide class onsite if needed)
- Enthusiasm for working with children in an after school or recreational setting.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to interact positively with students, staff, and parents/guardians.
- Dependability, punctuality, and a willingness to assist with various tasks as needed.
- Ability to follow directions and work effectively as part of a team.
- Physical stamina and the ability to perform light to moderate physical tasks, such as standing, walking, lifting, and carrying.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
