Job SummarySt. Catherine Labouré Catholic Church is seeking a courteous, dependable Substitute Parish Secretary / Receptionist to provide administrative and front‑office support as needed. This role serves as a welcoming first point of contact for parishioners, visitors, and callers while supporting daily parish operations in a professional, organized, and faith‑centered manner.
Key Responsibilities- Greet parishioners, visitors, and guests with warmth and professionalism, in person and by phone.
- Answer incoming calls, direct inquiries appropriately, and take accurate messages.
- Provide general information regarding parish activities, schedules, and ministries.
- Assist with routine administrative tasks such as data entry, filing, copying, and correspondence.
- Support parish staff with bulletins, mailings, sacramental records, and basic office needs.
- Maintain organization and cleanliness of reception and office areas.
- Ensure confidentiality when handling sensitive parish, sacramental, or personal information.
- Assist with opening or closing procedures as assigned.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Previous office, receptionist, or administrative experience preferred.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a welcoming demeanor.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Basic computer skills, including familiarity with email, word processing, and office equipment.
- Ability to multitask and prioritize responsibilities in a busy office environment.
- Respect for and willingness to support the teachings, mission, and values of the Catholic Church.
- Ability to sit, stand, and move throughout the office as needed.
- Ability to lift or carry office supplies and materials up to approximately 20 lbs.
- Flexibility to work during regular parish hours as coverage is needed.
- Commitment to professionalism, confidentiality, and hospitality.
- Completion of required background checks and Safe Environment training in accordance with diocesan policies.
