Join the International Institute of St. Louis as a Sr. Manager of Accounting Services.
The Sr. Manager of Accounting Services supports and gradually assumes leadership in managing the accounting operations of the International Institute of St. Louis (IISTL) and its affiliates. Over an 18‑month training and transition period, this role will develop toward full responsibility for financial reporting, compliance, audit readiness, and team supervision under the guidance of the Sr. Director of Accounting Services.
Minimum Education & Experience Requirements- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required; CPA or CPA candidate preferred.
- 5‑8 years of progressive accounting experience, including nonprofit or grant‑funded organization experience.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Dynamics Great Plains and Microsoft 365 applications.
- Experience supporting audits, budgets, and complex reconciliations.
- Not‑For‑Profit Accounting experience is highly desired.
- Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and organizational skills.
- Demonstrated attention to detail with ability to meet tight deadlines.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively and respectfully in a multicultural environment.

- Financial Reporting & Analysis:
Assist in preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in compliance with GAAP and internal policies; conduct variance analyses; maintain Chart of Accounts; support financial dashboards and reports for leadership and the Board. - Budgeting & Forecasting:
Assist with annual budget development and periodic reforecasting; support departmental leaders with budget tracking and grant compliance; identify and communicate financial trends, risks, and opportunities. - General Accounting:
Oversee daily accounting functions, including journal entries, reconciliations, and month‑end close processes; prepare and reconcile bank accounts, Pay Pal, donor schedules, and petty cash; ensure proper documentation and record‑keeping; review and approve entries prepared by specialists. - Accounts Payable, Receivable & Case Management:
Supervise processing of invoices, deposits, and vendor setup in Great Plains; approve and monitor Positive Pay uploads and weekly check runs; reconcile cash receipts and maintain bank transaction accuracy; support continuous improvement of AP/AR systems. - Payroll & Benefits Accounting:
Work with HR to verify payroll accuracy; maintain payroll‑related accruals; reconcile and report payroll data for compliance. - Audit & Compliance:
Assist in annual audit preparation; ensure financial activities comply with federal grant guidelines; support internal control reviews; participate in IRS Form 990, 5500 filings. - Grant & Contract Accounting:
Collaborate with Grant Managers to review expenditures, track restricted funds; prepare Federal Financial Reports (SF‑425) and funder‑specific reporting; ensure timely, accurate grant spending. - Leadership Development & Training:
Supervise accounting staff, provide mentorship; participate in leadership meetings; assist in updating accounting policies; engage in professional development.
Salary: $75,000 – $80,000 per year.
