We’re hiring a Tax staff accountant who can handle both complex tax compliance and light accounting/bookkeeping responsibilities. This role is ideal for someone who is technically strong, highly self-reliant, and experienced in working independently in a remote environment. You will be preparing U.S. tax returns, supporting clean-up and oversight of financials in Quick Books Online, interacting with clients, conducting technical research, and playing a critical role in overall engagement workflows and quality.
PrimaryResponsibilities
- Prepare and review individual and business tax returns in compliance with U.S. tax laws and regulations.
- Communicate with clients to gather necessary documents, clarify missing details, and ensure accurate information.
- Analyze client data to identify potential deductions, credits, and tax-saving opportunities.
- Maintain organized and confidential client records.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure deadlines are met and quality standards are upheld.
- Review and interpret financial statements to support tax preparation and advisory work.
- Review client’s books, perform clean-up projects in Quick Books Online.
- Analyze and adjust financial statements and general ledgers for accuracy and completeness.
- Prepare and post journal entries, identify and resolve accounting discrepancies in Quick Books Online.
- Conduct tax research and communicate clearly with clients and team members.
- Assist with internal SOPs, workflow documentation, and process improvements.
- 2-3 years of U.S. tax preparation experience.
- Strong command of Quick Books Online and journal entry adjustments.
- Excellent communication, time management, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently, make sound decisions, and manage priorities.
- Technically detail-oriented and comfortable reading IRS instructions and applying tax law. Proficiency with tools such as Pro Connect, CCH Axcess, Karbon, Practice Ignition.
