Controls Engineer
Controls Engineer to lead the development and deployment of standardized diagnostic systems across our manufacturing operations. This role is ideal for someone who thrives at the intersection of automation, data, and process improvement—someone who can build scalable fault‑handling logic and drive actionable insights from downtime data.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct facility walkthroughs and equipment audits to assess current diagnostic capabilities
- Analyze operational data (OEE, cycle times, downtime, throughput) to identify inefficiencies
- Design and implement reusable diagnostic logic templates across PLCs, Ignition, and GE Proficy systems
- Develop structured diagnostic frameworks using asset models and category hierarchies
- Deploy diagnostics logic across pilot lines, multiple lines, and full facilities with increasing accuracy targets
- Address legacy equipment challenges and refine diagnostic routines for full coverage
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to ensure seamless integration and adoption
- Recommend equipment upgrades, automation improvements, or process changes based on findings
- Document all logic, configurations, and deployment procedures for scalability and knowledge transfer
Skills & Qualifications
Required Experience & Skills
- 8+ years of experience in controls engineering
- Proficiency in PLC programming (Allen‑Bradley, Siemens, etc.)
- Hands‑on experience with Ignition SCADA and GE Proficy platforms
- Strong understanding of manufacturing KPIs and diagnostic data (OEE, downtime, etc.)
- Experience developing and deploying diagnostic logic and fault‑handling routines
- Excellent problem‑solving, documentation, and communication skills
- Ability to lead cross‑site standardization initiatives and manage multi‑line deployments
Contract position based out of St Joseph, MO.
Pay and BenefitsPay range: $60.00 – $67.00 per hour.
