Pathways to Teacher - External
Recruiting and retaining a quality workforce is one of the district goals. The Pathway to Teaching program is designed to assist current employees and interested parties from outside the district who already have a bachelor's degree in something other than education an opportunity to become a teacher in the SJSD.
Interested employees and external applicants who meet the basic qualifications would go through screening and potentially become part of a competitive process including an application, personal statement, reference check, and personal interview.
Candidates selected for the program would receive $4,000 per year for two years to help defray the cost of pursuing alternative certification. In exchange for financial assistance, they would agree to work for the district for three years after completing their certification. We would select up to fifteen (15) recipients per year for the program.
Please watch for email communications from our district. If selected for an interview you may be contacted via email.
