Field Applications Chemist – Separation Science

ScheduleThis full-time field applications position supports LECO headquarters in St. Joseph, MI. This position does not require relocation due to the high percentage of travel (up to 75%).
Position SummaryThe Separations Science Field Applications Chemist will provide applications related training on LECO’s GC, GCxGC, and GC-MS product lines for our valued customers. In addition to training existing customers, the field applications chemist will provide instrument demonstrations onboard LECO’s separation science mobile laboratory as well as other technical sales support functions, as needed. The new team member will receive 6 to 8 weeks of hands-on training at LECO headquarters in St.
Joseph, MI prior to assuming their new role.
This role reports directly to the Domestic Separation Science Applications Director and will work closely with the USA separation science sales and applications teams. Specific responsibilities will include:
- Work closely with the USA applications team to develop a working knowledge of our core markets
- Provide pre and post-sale training and support for LECO GC-MS, GCxGC-FID, and GCxGC-MS instrumentation
- Provide applications-related training to LECO separation science customers
- Work closely with the sales team to plan and support mobile laboratory visits
- Travel to headquarters in St. Joseph Michigan to conduct demonstrations of LECO Corporation’s GC-MS and GCxGC-MS product lines for prospective customers, as needed
- Minimum of 5-years experience with GC-MS and a strong understanding of method development strategies
- Hands-on experience in GC-MS methods development is a MUST
- Hands-on experience with GCxGC, and/or High-Resolution Mass Spectrometry a PLUS
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Experience with direct customer interaction
- Desire to function in a team environment
- Willingness to travel is a must as this position will require up to 75% travel
- Minimum of BS Degree in analytical chemistry or a related field
