Position SummaryWe are seeking a highly motivated and results‑oriented Technical Services Laboratory Intern, with a focus on learning and applying analytical techniques and skills in working with analytical instruments and metallography equipment to join our growing technical services laboratory team. This role is ideal for a hands‑on, detail‑oriented student interested in gaining real‑world laboratory experience by supporting material analysis, metallographic preparation, testing, and documentation activities while working closely with experienced technical professionals.
The intern will develop foundational laboratory skills, learn proper safety and quality practices, and apply academic knowledge to practical materials challenges, contributing to the effectiveness and success of the technical services laboratory.
- Support analytical instrument and metallographic equipment operation for application development – Operate analytical elemental instruments and metallography equipment under supervision to support material characterization and application development, including metallographic sample preparation and microscopy imaging as needed
- Support data collection and documentation – Accurately record test conditions, observations, and results in laboratory records and reports.
- Maintain laboratory instruments and work areas – Assist with routine cleaning, organization, and basic maintenance of metallographic and analytical instruments.
- Follow laboratory safety and quality procedures – Adhere to established safety protocols, material handling guidelines, and quality standards at all times.
- Collaborate with technical staff on projects – Provide hands‑on support for technical services projects, customer samples, and internal material evaluations.
- Currently pursuing a higher education degree in chemistry, materials science, or a related scientific field.
- At least one prior university‑level science laboratory course.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Well‑organized and detail‑oriented.
- Self‑motivated with the ability to work independently and collaborate with teams.
- Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in chemistry, materials science, or a related scientific field.
- At least one prior university‑level science laboratory course.
