Shift: Day Shift Position Summary
The Patient Services Representative (PSR) serves as the face of the company, providing direct patient care and creating a professional, trusting, and compassionate environment. The PSR is responsible for collecting and processing clinical and forensic specimens, primarily through venipuncture, while ensuring accuracy, safety, confidentiality, and compliance with established procedures. This role may be performed in a patient service center, physician’s office, or other locations based on business needs.
Key ResponsibilitiesDraw quality blood samples from patients following established practices and procedures
Prepare specimens for laboratory testing
Explain procedures clearly to patients and create an atmosphere of trust and confidence
Perform clinical and forensic specimen collection and processing with accuracy and professionalism
Verify patient demographic information and obtain patient initials/signature post-venipuncture to confirm correct labeling in the patient’s presence
Maintain required records and documentation accurately
Demonstrate leadership behaviors and commitment to process excellence
Maintain patient confidentiality and data accuracy at all times
Perform daily duties accurately and on time under the direction of the area supervisor
Maintain a safe, clean, and professional work environment
Promote a positive image of the company to patients, clients, employees, and the public
Assignment may be in a doctor’s office, patient service center, or other locations as business needs dictate
Flexible schedule required, including weekends, holidays, on-call shifts, and overtime
Must be able to work at multiple locations with minimal notice
Training locations may vary based on trainer availability
Minimum of 2–3 years of phlebotomy experience
Excellent phlebotomy skills, including pediatric and geriatric patients
Ability to work independently with minimal on-site supervision
Ability to perform high-quality, error-free work in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
Superior customer service and communication skills
Ability to make sound decisions based on established procedures and good judgment
Willingness to embrace change and demonstrate knowledge of the business
Reliable transportation required (bus, Uber, or rideshare not considered reliable transportation)
Valid driver’s license and clean driving record, if applicable
Must arrive on time, work scheduled shifts, and stay for the full shift
Excessive absenteeism or tardiness is not tolerated and may result in termination
