Position Roles

The Area Coordinator is responsible for developing and maintaining a respectful residential learning environment that promotes students' overall development and supports the academic mission of the College of Saint Benedict (CSB) and Saint John’s University (SJU). This position contributes to creating a sophisticated, inclusive, compelling, and collaborative work environment that honors and acknowledges the Catholic, Benedictine tradition. The Area Coordinator is also responsible for managing and overseeing various educational, administrative, and operational functions associated with managing residential communities.

Faculty Residents serve as pastoral mentors to students, fostering personal growth, spiritual reflection, and life skills development aligned with the SJU residential curriculum. Through teaching, mentorship, and community engagement, they help cultivate respectful, inclusive residential communities and support students in their academic and character development. Faculty Residents work closely with campus partners.

The posted wage represents CSB and SJU's good faith estimate of likely compensation at the time of posting. Actual pay will be dependent upon several factors, including the candidate's experience, qualifications, and skills, and may fall outside of the range indicated.

Responsibilities

Area Coordinator (60%)

  • Implement a residential curriculum in a cohort-based model.
  • Collaborate with and guide residential committees to promote meaningful student engagement and involvement.
  • Adjudicate conduct in collaboration with the Assistant Dean of Students or designee. Administer the student conduct system for residents and serve as a residential system hearing officer with authority up to and including disciplinary probation.
  • Provide crisis response/case management for student concerns. Coordinate on-site and front-line response to incidents, including those that are highly complex in nature (e.g., sexual misconduct, alcohol and drug related behavior, mental health concerns, bias incidents, and community conflict).
  • Serve as a member of the 24/7 on-call professional staff person for the on-campus residential system on a regularly scheduled rotation with other professional staff members to provide direct crisis response to incidents involving students.
  • Present and assist with RA Training projects and/or tasks.
  • Coordinate various seasonal operation logistics for new and returning students' move-in, move-out, and break periods.
