Rocmaura Inc. is recruiting a Director of Finance (Controller) to join its team.
Rocmaura is a “Community of Caring People” that is home to 150 seniors who require long term care. Its mission is guided by the founding spirit of the Sisters of Charity of the Immaculate Conception. Rocmaura Inc. is sponsored by Catholic Health International.
Position overview The Director of Finance is responsible for planning, organizing, and directing all the financial and accounting activities of the Home in accordance with the Home's philosophy, policies, and objectives. Additionally, they are accountable for developing, implementing, and maintaining proper controls over all receipts, disbursements, and related transactions.
Responsibilities Plan, organize and direct all the financial activities of the Home with due observance to the Home's By-Laws, Rules and Regulations, and to the Federal, Provincial, and Municipal Acts, Regulations and By-Laws;
To administer the accounting system in accordance with the accepted accounting principles and best practices;
Attend meetings of the Board of Directors and its committees as required by the Executive Director;
Responsible for directing and supervising all functions of payroll;
Review accounting practices and implement changes as necessary;
Maintain records of contracts, leases, and other similar documents;
Prepare studies of cost and statistical trends;
Maintain an effective liaison relationship, oversight role or responsibility for purchasing functions of the assigned staff/groups;
Develop and maintain good public relations with the residents, the residents' families, other departments and the community;
Attend departmental and inter-departmental meetings to perform cooperative projects;
Participate in the Integrated Quality Safety Risk Management Program;
Participate in the Home's Employee Attendance Support and Accident Injury Prevention programs.
Qualifications A CPA designation is required, supplemented by at least 5 years of experience;
Strong administrative, accounting, and computer skills;
Strong interpersonal skills including high emotional intelligence, and ability to relate to diverse populations and the elderly;
High standards of professionalism and dedication to their profession and confidentiality;
Excellent management, decision-making, and communication/collaboration skills are required;
Strong problem-solving and creative skills, and the ability to exercise sound judgment and make decisions based on accurate and timely analyses;
Detail-oriented self-starter. Highly motivated.
