Construction Labor / Trades, Heavy Equipment Operator
Incorporated in 1955, Ocean Steel services several markets, including Atlantic Canada, the Eastern United States, Bermuda and the Caribbean. Although they specialize in fabricating and erecting structural steel for buildings and bridges, they also manufacture and install platework, such as breechings, stacks, ducts, penstocks, process & storage tanks and custom process-equipment. Ocean Steel’s two New Brunswick plants include the original location in Saint John, as well as the York Steel Plant in Fredericton, which was acquired by Ocean Steel in 1995.
Responsibilities- All around help in the steel shop
- Read blueprints and gather parts for Steel Fitters
- Assist team in shipping and receiving yard
- General cleanup to maintain safe work environment
- Use of overhead cranes
- Completion of high school
- Previous experience in structural steel fabrication shop considered an asset
- Successful helpers will have an opportunity to advance and to apply and train for Welder, Fitter and Machine Operator positions
