Part-Time After-School Educator role at YMCA of Southwestern New Brunswick
The YMCA of Southwestern New Brunswick is addressing critical regional issues, including health, population change, youth out migration and child poverty. The Opportunity
We are seeking a part-time After School Program Educator to join our Child Care and After School Department. The Educator will support children’s learning and growth—physically and socially—in a safe, child-centered environment. You will provide programming within our After School Programs for all participants, with a primary focus on engaging children aged 5 to 12 years. You will plan weekly program activities based on the children’s interests and develop relationships with children and their families to create a welcoming environment.
Shifts will occur between 1:00pm to 6:00pm, Monday through Friday.
Responsibilities- Understands and complies with the New Brunswick Child Care facilities standards and Abuse Protocol practices.
- Plans and implements programming in accordance with YMCA and New Brunswick standards.
- Understanding and compliance with "YMCA A Place to Connect" and the New Brunswick Early Learning and Child Care Curriculum.
- Demonstrates a commitment to children’s learning and responsiveness to research.
- Understands each child and family’s specific needs and plans for successful outcomes.
- Ensures daily routines are followed, documented, and completed in a timely fashion.
- Adheres to YMCA of Southwestern New Brunswick policies and procedures, maintains confidentiality, and follows Department of Social Development record-keeping requirements.
- Completes weekly documentation and submits it to the supervisor.
- Participates in quarterly training sessions to develop new skills.
- Other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in a Child Care, After School, or Youth program.
- An Early Childhood Education Certificate or Diploma is an asset.
- Knowledge of the New Brunswick Curriculum Framework and/or Play to Learn is an asset.
- Working knowledge of computers and willingness to learn app software.
- Flexibility regarding assigned working hours.
- Reliable transportation is required.
- Strong work ethic, organizational, and communication skills.
- First Aid/CPR certification.
