We are seeking a strategic, hands‑on Chief Financial Officer to lead our financial operations during an exciting phase of expansion. This is a full-time, in‑office leadership role based in our St. George headquarters. As a key member of the executive team, you will partner closely with the CEO to shape financial strategy, optimize royalty and fee structures, ensure network‑wide financial health, oversee legal and compliance functions, and support franchisee success while scaling the franchisor’s profitability.
Responsibilities- Oversee all financial operations, including accounting, budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, financial reporting, and internal controls for the franchisor entity.
- Develop and manage franchise‑specific financial models, including royalty revenue streams, initial franchise fees, advertising fund contributions, and shared services pricing.
- Provide strategic financial guidance on network expansion, franchise sales, mergers/acquisitions of CPA practices, and support for franchisee financing or growth initiatives.
- Manage the legal team and in‑house/outside attorneys, ensuring robust legal oversight for franchise agreements, regulatory compliance (e.g., FDD disclosures, state franchise laws), professional standards (CPA licensing/ethics), intellectual property, contracts, litigation risk, and general corporate legal matters.
- Ensure full compliance with franchise regulations, professional accounting standards, tax requirements, and other legal obligations across a distributed network of franchisees.
- Lead financial planning and analysis (FP&A) to support data‑driven decisions, including KPI tracking for franchisee performance, royalty audits, and overall system health.
- Collaborate with franchise operations, marketing, support, and legal teams to create tools and reporting that empower franchisees (e.g., standardized financial templates, benchmarking dashboards, compliance resources).
- Manage banking relationships, capital structure, funding for growth, and enterprise risk management in a professional services/franchise environment.
- Build and mentor a high‑performing finance and legal team while fostering a culture of accuracy, transparency, innovation, and ethical excellence.
- Prepare board‑level financial and legal/compliance presentations, investor reports (if applicable), and long‑term projections to drive sustainable, profitable scaling.
- CPA certification strongly preferred (or equivalent advanced accounting credential); MBA or advanced degree a plus; JD or legal background a strong advantage given oversight of attorneys.
- 10+ years of progressive finance leadership experience, with at least 5 years in a senior role (CFO, VP Finance, or equivalent).
- Proven experience in franchising, professional services (e.g., accounting, legal, consulting), or multi‑location/multi‑unit businesses – experience with franchise royalty/fee structures and legal/compliance management highly desirable.
- Deep knowledge of GAAP, financial modeling, cash flow optimization, franchise law, corporate governance, and compliance in regulated industries.
- Strong strategic mindset with hands‑on execution; comfortable in a fast‑paced, growth‑oriented environment.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills – ability to translate complex financial and legal concepts to non‑expert stakeholders (e.g., franchisees, executives).
- Proficiency in financial software (e.g., Quick Books, Net Suite, or franchise‑specific tools) and advanced Excel/modeling.
- Must live in the St. George, Utah area (or commit to immediate relocation) and be available for full‑time on‑site work at our headquarters.
