Working within Event Services, this position assists the Director of Guest Services in managing, coordinating and facilitating campus events at the Gardner Student Center at Utah Tech University. Responsible for building security and supervising part-time employees working the night shift within the Gardner Student Center (typically 2:00 PM – 10:00 PM Tuesday – Saturday). Ensures campus venues are competently presented and events are safe and professionally done.

This position works in tandem with the Guest Services Morning Supervisor on event coordination.

  • Coordinate scheduling of building regularly to assure the set-up and take-down of events occurs in a timely manner.
  • Coordinate evening set-ups and take-downs within Guest Services, which includes chair/table/room, setup, audio-visual needs, etc.
  • Coordinate with the Student Government and Clubs to meet the needs of various student activities in the Gardner Center and on-campus.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with university students, staff, and the public.
  • Responsible for keeping up with current audio-visual technology.
  • Responsible for maintenance and repair of all Gardner Center equipment.
  • Supervise, train, hire, and help schedule all night shift part-time employees hired to meet the needs of the Guest Services area.
  • Responsible for building security and closing procedures.
  • Fills out daily reports, which include maintenance needs, customer counts, and incident reports.
  • Work with Student Government, Dining Services, and the Campus Store for building maintenance, as needed.
  • Work with Event Services and other departments on campus for event needs.
  • Work late evening hours and weekends, as needed to accommodate scheduled events.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent GED required.
  • At least one (1) year related experience in Guest Services, Event Services, Facilities Management, etc. required.
  • Good supervisory skills, with the ability to work with student employees.
  • Knowledge and experience in student centers, bookstores and food services preferred.
  • Knowledge of custodial services, including equipment and procedures.
  • Service oriented: able to work with a variety of people and situations.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to exercise important human relations skills in establishing and maintaining effective working relations with college students, employees, and the public.
  • Ability to use a personal computer and other office equipment.
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently.
  • Ability to maintain emotional control under stress.
  • Ability to raise or lower an object from one level to another (includes upward pulling) of over 50 lbs. A lift test will be required if offered employment.
  • Ability to perform strenuous walking, standing and climbing.
  • Ability to operate a motor vehicle and forklift.
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying climate conditions.
POSITION DETAILS, COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

Full-time overtime-exempt executive staff position. Annual salary of $35,000-$37,500 depending on qualifications and experience. Desired start date of February/March 2026.
