Course Overview

Course

Description:

Practical considerations in solving political problems in and about schools. Focus is on the five levels of local governance: family/school, micro‑politics (within the school), neighbourhood, meso‑politics (the school and the central office), and the board. Special attention to understanding background variables such as the environment, institutions, power, and issues. Workshop activities centre around processes such as coalition‑building, advocating, believing, and co‑producing.

Readings include procedural, fictional, and conceptual materials.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Candidates must hold a doctorate in Education Leadership and Policy or a related field;
  • demonstrated record of scholarship in the field of Educational Leadership and Policy and the subject area of the course;
  • professional, advocacy, and/or knowledge mobilization experience in the area of PK‑12 Educational Leadership and Policy;
  • successful post‑secondary teaching experience and a successful track record of teaching online, preferably using Canvas/Quercus.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience teaching graduate‑level courses;
  • Experience teaching in the subject area of the course.
Description of Duties

Prepare, organize, and lead the graduate half course; be available to students seeking assistance between classes; and evaluate student work and provide students with feedback.
