Description:

The Urban Forest Conservation Field Camp will consist of five days examining urban forestry issues in the GTA and 5-7 additional days visiting municipalities in eastern Ontario (Ottawa area), and western Quebec (Montreal). Topics will include urban forest inventories, nursery production, arboricultural techniques, urban woodland management, urban forest health, urban forest administration, urban dendrology and urban forestry research.

Summer session course/activity.

Minimum Qualifications

Extensive professional experience in urban forestry.

Preferred Qualifications

Preferably a Ph.D. degree; teaching and field camp experience an asset.

Description of Duties

Prepare and deliver lectures, maintain course notes and readings on Quercus, set and mark course assignments, including analysis of an urban tree inventory dataset. Evaluate student presentations, reports, possible final exam or other assignments. Compile, record and submit final marks. Be available to students via email prior to the formal course start and daily during the intensive two weeks in the field.
