Department Overview

The Center for Interfaith Dialogue is dedicated to uplifting students’ religious identities, promoting interfaith dialogue and understanding, and fostering a more inclusive climate for religious and nonreligious communities on campus.

End of spring 2027 semester - opportunity to return the following academic year based on performance in the role

Schedule

Between 9am-5pm Monday-Friday plus some evening hours. Actual hours to be determined in conjunction with student employee and supervisor.

Qualifications

Required:

  • An undergraduate student in good standing at UW-Madison
  • Registered for the entire academic year 2025-26
  • Enrolled as a full time student each semester (at least 12 credits)

A strong candidate will be:

  • An empathetic leader and advocate
  • An active and curious listener
  • An effective bridge-builder who is excited to engage people of different backgrounds with respect and sensitivity
  • Experienced in social media creation and/or newsletter writing
  • An individual with a strong interest and/or connection to a religious/spiritual/atheist/agnostic/nonaligned community
    * You do not need to identify with any religious/spiritual background or belief system in order to apply.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Desired but not Mandatory:

  • Have experience as a leader in a religious/spiritual/non-aligned/atheist RSO or other community space
  • Have experience in the Interfaith Fellows and/or be a current member of the Interfaith Fellows cohort
  • Be in your 2nd year+
Position Summary/Job Duties
  • Attend weekly Interfaith Fellows meetings with the interfaith dialogue team
  • Build and sustain relationships with UW-Madison community members to help identify unique areas of needed support across campus
  • Hold regular office hours to be accessible to students and complete CID work/shifts in-person in Red Gym 207
  • Assist with general office operations (maintaining office hours, upkeep of office space, organizing before and after events, etc.) and supporting the brand development and recognition across the entire campus of the Center for Interfaith Dialogue.
  • Plan and facilitate dialogue training sessions for campus
  • Plan and facilitate student centered events, programs and workshops that encourage interfaith community and dialogue
  • Assist the Center for Interfaith Dialogue in creating event flyers, resource guides, and educational posts for social media, the website, and broader campus
Physical Demands

Movement around campus and pulling of wagon with supplies as needed.
