ATS technicians are trained to provide quality maintenance on our growing fleet of over‑the‑road trucks and trailers. You’ll perform a variety of work including inspecting, diagnosing, replacing and repairing brake systems, ABS, electrical components, steering systems, multi‑axle alignments, hydraulic systems, welding/fabrication of steel and aluminum, and related equipment. You’ll work independently while being part of a great team!

The Trailer Technician Level 3 is responsible for the inspection, service, repair and preventative maintenance of the various types of ATS owned trailers by using ATS and industry standard methods and criteria to ensure the trailer is safe to be on the road. Functions of this position include inspecting, diagnosing, replacing and repairing brake systems, ABS, electrical components, steering systems, multi‑axle alignments, hydraulic systems, welding/fabrication of steel and aluminum and related equipment.
Education and Experience- Two‑year AAS degree in a medium/heavy truck diesel program and/or a minimum 1–3 years of equivalent experience in a related field (e.g., automotive, medium/heavy equipment, trailer repair) with experience in cutting and welding preferred.
- Good working knowledge of DOT regulations and out‑of‑service parameters for tractors, trailers and accessorial equipment.
- Good working knowledge of trailer maintenance and diagnostic software.
- Valid driver’s license;
Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) is preferred but not required. - Must be able to operate all related shop equipment.
- Must be DOT certified and forklift certified, or able to demonstrate through on‑the‑job inspections and be certified by the ATS trainer within 90 days of hire if applicable.
- Good communication skills (written, verbal, listening).
- Basic computer operations knowledge.
- Good decision‑making, problem‑solving, attention to detail and customer service skills (internal/external).
- Competent in using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Basic electrical troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to read installation manuals and understand manufacturer training.
- Knowledge of proper procedures for handling and disposal of hazardous waste materials.
- Level 2:
Minimum 3+ years of equivalent experience with required OEM training courses for brakes and suspension systems (e.g., Bendix, Henrickson) within 1 year of hire, DOT certified, good electrical troubleshooting skills. - Level 1:
Minimum 5+ years of equivalent experience with ASE Certifications T4, T8 required within 1 year of hire. Must have advanced electrical troubleshooting, advanced knowledge of hydraulic and wireless steering systems, and ability to diagnose both Tridec and Lodar systems.
- Perform inspections on incoming (Safety Lane) and outgoing company‑owned trailers using ATS, DOT, and OSHA guidelines.
- Complete DOT inspections on outgoing trailers to verify all necessary repairs.
- Ensure safety procedures are implemented and followed and PPE is used at all times.
