Description Of Duties/Essential Functions
Under immediate supervision, for a period of six (6) to twelve (12) months, the trainee receives structured classroom and on-the-job training involving various facets of agency-wide activities and operations related to the processing of all types of taxes. As part of the training program, the trainee completes assignments of a routine nature in specific phases of the tax examining process and receives classroom and on-the-job instruction on tax laws, rules, regulations, policies, procedures, research methods, communication skills, and computer usage/concepts.
The trainee also receives basic technical training in specialized operations to enable assistance in priority situations. Periodic evaluations are conducted, and upon successful completion of the training, the trainee qualifies for promotion to a Revenue Tax Specialist I position.
- Holder of a bachelor’s degree or ∘01 eight years of supportive tax‑related experience.
- Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
- Ability to benefit from training and become knowledgeable about tax laws and regulations.
- Ability to develop and maintain satisfactory working relationships with the public and other employees.
- Ability to absorb and understand information related to tax analysis techniques.
- Basic arithmetic skills (add, subtract, divide, multiply quickly and accurately with or without a calculator).
- Proficiency in computer software and equipment usage.
- Ability to convey necessary information tactfully and diplomatically under difficult conditions.
- Maturity and stability to adjust to work assignments, job pressures, and demands.
- Clear oral communication with taxpayers and their representatives.
- Capacity to lift and carry up to 25 pounds.
