SummaryThe St. Cloud VA Health Care System (HCS) is seeking an Assistant Medical Director for Primary and Specialty Medicine (PSM) for its Community Based Outpatient Clinic (CBOC) locations in Alexandria, Montevideo, and Brainerd. The incumbent will directly manage and oversee clinical and administrative operations within the PSM service line and will receive a recruitment incentive for highly qualified candidates.
Qualifications- United States Citizenship (non‑citizens only if no qualified citizens can be recruited in accordance with VA policy).
- Doctor of Medicine or equivalent degree in medicine or osteopathic medicine from an admission‑approved school.
- Full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a U.S. state, territory, or the District of Columbia.
- Completed residency training approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs in an accredited core specialty program leading to board certification.
- Residency may also be approved AOA program or an other U.S. residency followed by a minimum of five years of verified practice.
- Residents enrolled in an ACGME or AOA program who meet basic requirements may be appointed as Physician Resident Providers (PRPs) on an intermittent or fee‑basis.
- PRPs must be fully licensed physicians and may only perform restricted duties under supervision; they are not independent practitioners.
- Proficiency in spoken and written English.
- Preferred Experience:
Internal Medicine, Primary Care, or Family Medicine with board certification or eligibility, Plus prior Leadership/Supervisory Experience. - Physical Requirements:
Participate in a pre‑employment examination as part of the hiring process.
- Advocate for a Whole Health System of care across each Medical Center.
- Empower veterans to take charge of their health and well‑being in a healing relationship and environment that connects them to their community.
- Develop personalized health plans for each veteran within the VA mission to honor and improve veterans’ health.
- Mentor, lead, and supervise competent staff dedicated to high‑quality, patient‑centered care ud VAHS.
- Provide direct management and oversight of clinical and administrative operations in the PSM service line.
- Supervise physicians and mid‑level providers at the Health Care System and affiliated CBOCs; coordinate work schedules and clinical performance measures.
- Collaborate with other service line and facility leaders to optimize resources and delivery of care.
- Participate in local administrative, management, quality assurance, and other assignments, meetings, or committees as needed or assigned.
- Represent the VA’s comprehensive Total Rewards package, including competitive salary, annual performance bonus, regular salary increases, recruitment incentive, paid time off (50‑55 days per year), federal pension, 401(k), and federal insurance benefits.
- Maintain full and unrestricted license in any U.S. state or territory; optionally pursue CME reimbursement.
- Work Monday‑Friday, 8:00 am‑4:30 pm; no significant employment contract restrictions or moonlighting restrictions.
