The Security Officer contributes to the CHI mission and vision by assuring a safe and secure environment of care at hospital campuses and associated facilities and operations.

• Conduct initial investigations and appropriate follow-up for security incidents and write a security report documenting all findings.
• Conduct proactive foot and vehicle patrols of the entire campus to include all floors and buildings.
• Respond to all radio calls for a variety of services to include but not limited to: escorts, property pick-up, disturbances, standbys and emergency calls.
• Deescalate and maintain control in security situations.
• Stays current on all required training to include de-escalation training and required computer competencies.
• Receives mandatory health screenings and vaccines.
• Consistently monitor CCTV activities in the security control room when required.
• Run access control system to include giving clearances and locking of doors.
• Maintain a high level of professionalism and integrity in all interactions with team members, visitors and patients. Follow department dress code.
• Offer assistance and provide direction to visitors, patients and staff as needed.
• Communicate with incoming shift regarding unsolved situations or assignments. Distribute information accurately to appropriate recipients.
• Use tact, courtesy, sound judgment and a professional attitude when relating to patients, families, physicians, team members and other employees.
