RN – Charge Nurse, Stepdown/Critical Care ICU at SSM Health St. Joseph Hospital – St. Charles, MO

Job Highlights:
Full-Time | Nights (7:00 p.m.–7:30 a.m.).

• Lead and support ICU/Stepdown nursing staff
• Coordinate patient care and unit workflow
• Ensure safe, high-quality clinical practice
• Assigns, directs, educates and monitors nursing and support staff during assigned shift. Contributes to or performs performance evaluations of staff.
• Assess daily patient care needs and develop patient care assignments to ensure population-appropriate care
• Collaborate with advanced practice providers to ensure quality outcomes
• Evaluate the effectiveness of patient care and address issues impacting outcomes
• Respond to complaints about patient care and manage through established channels
• May provide input for hiring, training, directing, developing and evaluating staff
• Maintain a constant state of alertness and safety
• Perform other duties as assigned

• Current RN license
• 1+ year RN experience (ICU preferred)
• Charge/leadership experience a plus

• Graduate of accredited school of nursing or education equivalency for licensing
• One year of registered nurse experience

• Night shift, 7p–7:30a
• Every third weekend
• Holiday rotation

• Constant use of speech, standing, walking; frequent lifting/carrying (0–25 lbs) and pushing/pulling
• Frequent sitting, reaching, keyboard use/data entry
• Good vision and depth perception; ability to distinguish colors
• Frequent sense of smell and hearing to detect odors and alarms
• Occasional lifting/moving of patients (25–50 lbs), occasional driving
• Occasional bending, stooping, kneeling, twisting, and repetitive motions

• Basic Life Support (BLS HCP) – AHA
• Advanced Life Support (ALS) – AHA or alternative per state
• State-specific RN licensure requirements per location (IL, MO, OK, WI) as applicable
• Additional options include NRP, PALS, or other AHA/AAP programs where applicable
