Overview

Student Nurse Tech (Future Registered Nurse) at Select Specialty Hospital in St. Charles, MO. The role accommodates full‑time or PRN 12‑hour shifts (7‑7). Compensation starts at $21 per PRN hour, with an additional $1.50/night differential. The hospital focuses on critical‑illness recovery and post‑ICU services.

  • Compensation: $21 per PRN hour + $1.50/night differential
  • Orientation:
    Mandatory weekday orientation during either the 2nd week (Tue/Wed 8‑4:30 pm; Fri 8‑1:30 pm) or the 3rd week (Wed/Thu 8‑4:30 pm; Fri 8‑1:30 pm) of each month; cannot be bypassed.
Responsibilities
  • Obtain vital signs, height, weight, and demographic data.
  • Assist patients with personal daily care (bathing, oral hygiene, shaving, hair care).
  • Collect urine, stool, finger‑stick blood sugars, bladder scans, and other specimen collections; manage ostomy care and empty drainage tubes.
  • Remove peripheral IVs as directed by RN (not IVs in antecubital fossa or higher).
  • Deliver meals and snacks; feed patients unable to self‑feed and document oral intake.
  • Turn and position immobile patients safely, maintaining proper body alignment; participate in mobility program.
  • Transport patients to designated areas, including various treatment centers.
Qualifications
  • Current enrollment in an accredited nursing program (ADN or BSN) with proof of completing the first year/fundamentals of nursing.
  • Knowledge of basic nursing techniques, aseptic practices, and standard procedures.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills; ability to follow instructions and maintain effective working relationships with patients, families, physicians, and hospital staff.
  • BLS certification required upon hire.
