Job Description

As an Engineering Project Manager at Diode Dynamics, you will support the planning and execution of individual engineering projects related to new products, product changes, and other engineering efforts. You will work directly with the Engineering Manager and the functional engineering team to collect and define project requirements, plan project milestones and timelines, and allocate engineering resources. You will communicate with stakeholders, including external customers, on progress and project status, working to overcome constraints and achieve goals.

Through organization of verification and validation activities, you will ensure all design work completed meets input requirements, overseeing release to marketing and production teams, resulting in the delivery of world‑class lighting products.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support Engineering department with management of project planning activities (APQP format) to ensure engineering activities result in high quality outputs and world‑class products, within a clearly defined scope and timeframe.
  • Communicate with internal and external parties to collect, define, and document project requirements.
  • Work with individual engineering leaders to plan individual project tasks and gain an understanding of resource requirements. Oversee all projects to ensure they are completed on time and within budget.
  • Collect and review necessary engineering information to aid in critical design decisions
  • Develop and manage a detailed project schedule (MS Project), setting milestone dates, and plan individual tasks with Principal Engineers.
  • Prepare a budget for engineering hours and initial materials costs, based on scope of work and resource requirements. Work with the Director of Engineering to review financial goals of the project and sales targets to achieve a positive business case.
  • Lead project review meetings to review progress and status of tasks.
  • Provide project updates on a consistent basis to various stakeholders about strategy, adjustments, and progress, including external customers when applicable.
  • Review PPAP documents and validation and verification activities with engineering staff, to ensure complete execution of project requirements which meet original design requirements.
  • Ensure critical projects are delivered on time
  • Identify constraints within projects that may jeopardize project timeline, and work cross-functionally to resolve them.
  • Work with the Director of Engineering to adjust and add resources strategically to the department, to enable long-term growth of the department.
  • Gather input and feedback from teammates and leadership, and evaluate integration of their ideas to achieve improvements in process.
  • Work with Director of Engineering and Quality teams to ensure adequate personnel resources are assigned for QA and investigations (sustaining activities)
  • In support of the Engineering Manager and Manufacturing Engineering team, review SKU, subassemblies, and revisions within MRP system (Odoo)
  • Follow QMS (ISO 9001:2015) processes and requirements for all activities.
  • Work with engineering and test resources to ensure products meet specified compliance and regulatory standards (SAE, FMVSS
    108, ASTM, etc)
Qualifications
  • Minimum: BS Engineering or related degree.
  • 3 years of project management experience is required
  • Must have personal or professional experience in the automotive industry
  • Experience working with multi-disciplinary engineering teams (mechanical, optical, electrical, quality, production)
  • Experience with automotive engineering standards and AIAG documents is preferred, including APQP, DFMEA, etc.
  • Experience in LED lighting and automotive manufacturing is highly preferred.
  • Self-motived, self-starter, ability to complete project goals.
  • Excellent analysis and critical thinking skills to identify and mitigate project risks.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Exceptional organization skills and attention to detail.
  • Competitive salary based on experience: $90,000-$120,000/year
  • Business hours are Monday through Friday 7:30 am – 4 pm
