Job SummaryThe Children’s Division is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Staff Development Training Specialist. This role is responsible for designing, developing, and delivering high‑quality training to Children’s Division staff statewide. The Staff Development Training Specialist collaborates within project teams to create curriculum and instructional materials using a variety of learning tools and platforms. Training is delivered through multiple formats, including online modules, virtual sessions, and in‑person instruction.
In addition to facilitating training, this position provides individualized coaching and support to staff, ensures accurate attendance tracking, and evaluates participant engagement and learning outcomes. Successful candidates must be able to effectively manage a classroom environment, adapt facilitation strategies to meet diverse learning needs, and deliver training in an engaging, participatory manner. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to workforce development efforts that directly support staff performance and improve outcomes for children and families across the state.
You’ll Do
- Deliver required training related to Division policies, procedures, and program initiatives.
- Collaborate in the development, revision, and evaluation of training curricula and materials.
- Design and facilitate training across multiple platforms, including computer‑based learning, virtual instruction, and in‑person sessions.
- Support Division, Department, and Safety Task Force priorities through strategic training initiatives.
Special Requirements
- The operator of a motor vehicle is an essential function of this classification. Must be able to legally operate a motor vehicle in the performance of assigned duties upon the date of hire and throughout employment.
- This position requires travel throughout the entire State of Missouri.
A High School Diploma or High School Equivalent and Six or more years of professional or technical experience in a business, governmental, or military setting, where the primary duties involved formal classroom training, training course design and development, and/or curriculum planning; professional teaching experience at the high school level or above; and/or educational administration involving responsibility for curriculum planning and the supervision of teaching staff.
OR One or more years of experience as a Staff Development Trainer with the Missouri Uniform Classification and Pay System.
OR A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a minimum of 15 earned credit hours in one or a combination of the following:
Education, Business or Public Administration, the social sciences, or a closely related field; and, Two or more years of professional supervisory experience with the Missouri Uniform Classification and Pay System.
OR A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a minimum of 15 earned credit hours in one or a combination of the following:
Education, Business or Public Administration, the social sciences, or a closely related field; and, Two or more years of professional or technical experience in a business, governmental, or military setting, where the primary duties involved formal classroom training, training course design and development, and/or curriculum planning; professional teaching experience at the high school level or above; and/or educational administration involving responsibility for curriculum planning and the supervision of teaching staff.
(A combination of earned credit hours from an accredited college or university in the preferred fields such as social work, family and child development, special education, psychology, sociology, or related behavioral sciences and experience described may substitute for the stated qualifications. 30 credit hours are equivalent to 1 year of experience. Professional experience as described must be of a substantial period of time (over 50% of time)).
(Additional qualifying experience may substitute on a year‑for‑year basis for deficiencies in the required education.)
