Assistant Cup Machine Operator

Compensation- Pay Range $21.04/hr - $26.31/hr
- 2nd: 3:00pm - 11:00pm
Assistant Cup Operator position is responsible for feeding WIP blanks to cup machines and assisting the Cup Operator in all phases of machine operation. Directly responsible for machine startups, shutdowns, clearing jams, making bottom stock splices, filling oil reservoirs, emptying scrap bins, sweeping, cleaning floors, and making minor machine adjustments. This position is a line‑of‑progression opportunity toward becoming a Cup Operator.
Responsibilities- Maintain operation of the feed bed by consistently feeding WIP on the conveyors
- Feed 5‑7 conveyors continuously
- Check quality of WIP consistently and sort out bad WIP; notify Operator of wrinkled stock, excessive offset or haze, ink spots, misregister, or excessive scrap; recognize all applicable defects and report to the Cup Operator
- Properly start and stop machines and clear jams
- Read and understand job jackets to ensure correct materials are being used and ready for each job
- Ensure oil reservoirs are filled
- Make bottom stock splices and inspect cups after splice is made
- Manually web the bottom stock
- Know where standards are located and follow the standards
- Empty scrap bins
- Sweep floor and maintain housekeeping throughout the shift
- Help cover Packers for breaks as necessary
- Apply appropriate lockout/tag‑out procedures as necessary
- Use safety interlock system and keys
- Maintain a clean and orderly work area
- Spot for scissor lift operation
- Help train new assistants
- High School Diploma or General Education Degree
- 1 year related experience
- Demonstrated problem‑solving skills
