Overview
Q Center is looking for a Full Time 2nd Shift Maintenance Lead Engineer. The Lead Maintenance Engineer is responsible for overseeing operating decisions and maintaining all mechanical, electrical, plumbing and building equipment to ensure a comfortable stay for guests and associates. The Engineer Lead will provide technical maintenance support for building systems, supervise other Maintenance associates on the 2nd shift, and serve as the point person for mechanical issues during the shift.
The starting rate is $40/hour with a $0.50 shift differential. The schedule will be 3:00 PM – 11:30 PM.
- Oversee decisions on operating adjustments and maintain all building systems and equipment (mechanical, electrical, plumbing) to perform as intended.
- Provide experienced, detailed, and technical maintenance support for all levels of maintenance and repairs to building systems and structures.
- Supervise maintenance associates on the 2nd shift and act as the point person for mechanical issues during the shift.
- Lead preventative maintenance on HVAC, electrical systems, boilers, chillers, pumps, building automation systems (BAS), and related equipment.
- Interpret equipment gauges and data to assess performance and adjust as needed; respond to alarms and ensure safe, reliable operation.
- Communicate effectively with managers, associates, and other departments; maintain records of work activity and maintenance performed.
- Maintain a clean, organized work area and ensure guest and associate satisfaction and safety.
- Assist with and/or perform routine repairs and improvements as assigned.
- Utilize electronic work orders and CMMS for recording activity, scheduling, and reporting.
- Respond promptly to guest and staff requests related to maintenance issues and follow up to ensure resolution.
- Work independently or as part of a team on group projects with the ability to access, evaluate, and repair systems as needed.
- High School diploma or equivalent; experience in a hotel or related field required.
- At least 10 years of progressive experience in a hotel or related field preferred.
- Trade school and/or college coursework in a related field preferred.
- Previous supervisory experience preferred.
- EPA Refrigeration Technician Certification.
- Stationary Engineer License from Chicago or Elgin preferred.
- Valid Driver’s License.
- Flexible shifts and long hours occasionally required.
- Heavy work requiring exertion of lifting up to 100+ pounds occasionally and up to 50 pounds frequently; ability to move objects as needed.
- Comfortable operating from a lift up to 40 feet high.
- Provide attentive, friendly, helpful, and courteous service to guests and fellow associates.
- Maintain professional relationships and open communication with managers, associates, and other departments.
- Monitor and supervise daily department operations and associates.
- Identify opportunities to improve department objectives and standard operating procedures; make recommendations to appropriate staff.
- Conduct departmental training and meetings to develop associate morale and skills; prepare knowledge-based training documents.
- Motivate, coach, and counsel department personnel in accordance with Q Center policy.
- Ensure training and compliance with Standard Operating Procedures, Q Center policies, technical tasks and risk management.
- Operate the department computer system (software maintenance, report generation, analysis, and basic programming).
- Inform associates of business changes in a timely manner; keep supervisor informed of problems or matters requiring attention.
- Respond to associate and guest requests, problems, complaints and accidents promptly and courteously; follow up to ensure satisfaction; maintain a clean, organized work area.
- Maintain overall associate and guest satisfaction and safety; perform other related duties as assigned.
