Compensation: $140,000 – $185,000 + Bonus + Full Benefits

Schedule: Monday – Friday | In Office

Our client in St. Charles, Illinois, is seeking an experienced Senior Geotechnical Engineer to take a leadership role within a growing and well‑established engineering organization. This position offers the opportunity to lead complex projects, mentor technical staff, and work directly with clients while helping shape the future direction of the geotechnical practice. The ideal candidate is both technically strong and operationally minded, someone who thrives on project ownership, client interaction, and team development across a wide range of construction and infrastructure projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead geotechnical projects across residential, commercial, industrial, roadway, and heavy civil sectors
  • Oversee full project lifecycle from proposal through final delivery
  • Ensure projects meet quality, schedule, and budget objectives
  • Develop project execution strategies including scope, resources, and timelines
  • Serve as the primary technical point of contact for clients
  • Prepare proposals, scopes of work, and cost estimates
  • Deliver clear, actionable engineering recommendations and reports
  • Support client relationship growth and repeat business opportunities
  • Direct and oversee field investigations, drilling programs, and laboratory testing
  • Interpret subsurface conditions and geotechnical data for engineering design
  • Provide technical guidance during construction and resolve field‑related challenges
  • Select appropriate equipment, materials, and testing methodologies
  • Mentor engineers, technicians, and laboratory personnel
  • Promote a collaborative, high‑performance culture
  • Support training, quality control, and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Contribute to departmental growth and operational efficiency
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Geology, or related discipline
  • 5+ years of geotechnical engineering experience with project management responsibility
  • Strong analytical, technical writing, and communication skills
  • Experience managing field programs and multidisciplinary teams
  • Leadership mindset with interest in long‑term career growth
