JOB SUMMARY

The GATE Store Food Service Associate ensures customer service is the first priority for GATE operations, providing a friendly and efficient experience for guests by performing routine food preparation and customer assistance. The associate collaborates with the Store Kitchen Manager and Store Manager to control store operations and inventory, assists customers in locating products, operates food production equipment as required, stocks coolers and shelves, maintains a high level of cleanliness and organization, performs minor maintenance and repairs on equipment, operates the register for cash and credit card payments, and assists in training new and existing team members on food preparation, customer service, and kitchen safety procedures.

REQUIREMENTS
  • Must successfully complete a pre‑employment drug screening and background check.
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays.
  • Must have the ability to speak, read, write, and comprehend the English language at a level sufficient to communicate effectively with customers and team members.
  • Must be detail‑oriented and have strong organizational skills.
  • Must be able to stand for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to lift, carry, and move up to 50 pounds.
  • Must have the ability to perform repetitive movements over long periods of time.
  • Must be able to bend, kneel, stoop, and reach (including overhead).
  • Must work in a fast‑paced food service environment with exposure to heat, cold, and various kitchen equipment.
  • Must be able to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals for food service equipment.
JOB KNOWLEDGE

Must possess basic mathematical knowledge; be able to effectively follow all safety and sanitation guidelines and regulations to ensure quality food service; have strong customer service skills; gain product knowledge through training to assist customers and ensure their selections are properly stocked; prefer previous experience in a convenience store, restaurant, fast‑food or related environment; have knowledge of Food Safety.

DUTIES AND FUNCTIONS
  • Work a flexible schedule, including weekends, holidays, and split shifts.
  • Arrive to work on time, consistently.
  • Follow GATE standards for uniform and appearance, ensuring clean, crisp uniforms and hair as per guidelines.
  • Attend all required training, safety courses, office and departmental meetings.
  • Greet customers and assist with product or service questions, ensuring a friendly and efficient checkout experience.
  • Handle all payments following all GATE policies.
  • Contribute to a positive and supportive team environment.
  • Communicate accurately and positively to customers and staff, addressing inquiries and resolving complaints.
  • Abide by federal, state, and local law rules and regulations, including company policy.
  • Maintain or obtain Food Safety Certification.
  • Utilize organizational skills to continually provide customers with a clean and well‑stocked store.
  • Perform minor repairs and maintenance of store food equipment while ensuring food quality and maintaining commercial kitchen cleanliness; sanitize surfaces, properly store ingredients, and follow hygiene protocols.
  • Maintain high level cleanliness and organization of the facility, cleaning restrooms, floors, windows, storage rooms; sanitize pumps; empty trash cans; change light bulbs; place towels in dispensers; change paper and ink cartridges in registers.
  • Follow all food safety regulations, including proper food handling, storage, and temperature control.
  • Properly store and rotate ingredients to minimize waste and ensure freshness.
  • Prepare made‑to‑order food items according to the set menu, following standard recipes and portion guidelines.
  • Accommodate customer requests for menu customizations while maintaining food quality and consistency.
  • Provide friendly and efficient service, assisting customers with menu choices and answering questions about ingredients and preparation methods.
  • Ensure proper portion control and presentation of all food items.
  • Perform any additional tasks requested or assigned by the Kitchen and Store Managers.
