Northrop Grumman Aerospace Systems has an opening for an Aircraft Structures Mechanic 1/2 to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals within our E-2D Manufacturing and Production Organization. This role will be located in Saint Augustine, Florida.
The selected candidate will perform a variety of operations to assemble and make major assembly structures such as fuselage panels and bulkheads, and structural subassemblies such as rudders, flaps, and stabilizers.
Essential Functions:
Read and understand blueprints and translate into fabrications of structural assemblies to include: precision drilling, countersinking, and the use of calibrated tools
Aligning parts on jigs using templates and fixtures
Performing part-fitting operations: filing sawing, burring, crimping, trimming, framing, riveting, drilling and reaming
Measures parts with micrometers and calipers to verify dimensions
May modify incomplete and complete assemblies to incorporate changes to structure and verify quality in accordance with statistical process or other control procedures
Required ability to be certified for a half & full face respirator
Adhere to all required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and safety guidelines and regulations
Work and communicate over ambient noise
Work in a variety of work spaces/positions. Work spaces may include but are not limited to small, enclosed spaces, awkward, and elevated spaces. Positions may include bending, twisting, kneeling, crawling, ascending/descending ladders, and/or working overhead.
Ability to work flexible, changing shifts, including weekends
Potential Shifts:
6 am - 4:30 pm (M-Th 4x10s)
4:30 pm - 3 am (M-Th 4x10s)
2 am - 12:30 pm (M-Th 4x10s)
6 am - 6:30 pm (Fr-Sun 3x12s)

This role will be filled at either a Structures Mechanic 1 or 2 based on the relevant experience required for each role.
Basic Qualifications for Level 1:
High School diploma or GED and 1 years' experience with sheet metal structures, hydraulic parts, assemblies, components, manufacturing electrical and/or systems OR High School diploma or GED and completion of Aircraft Fabrication (AFAB) program or Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) license.
Must be able to perform moderate strenuous physical and repetitious work to include bending, stooping, kneeling, lifting up to 25 pounds, and working overhead
Must be able to access small, confined spaces and work in an enclosed environment
Ability to pass medical/respiratory evaluation in order to obtain and maintain necessary respirator clearance and compliance with all respirator fitting requirements
Must successfully complete and pass the “ASTAR New Hire Training / Compliance” within a reasonable time period, as defined by the company to meet its business need.
Ability to obtain and maintain Secret DoD Clearance within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company to meet its business needs

Ability to obtain and maintain Secret DOD clearance in a reasonable amount of time as required by the business.
