Overview

Aircraft Structures Mechanic - Entry Level - R at Northrop Grumman. This role is located in Saint Augustine, Florida. The selected candidate will perform a variety of operations to assemble and make major assembly structures such as fuselage panels and bulkheads, and structural subassemblies such as rudders, flaps, and stabilizers.

• Read and understand blueprints and translate into fabrications of structural assemblies, including precision drilling, countersinking, and use of calibrated tools
• Align parts on jigs using templates and fixtures
• Perform part-fitting operations: filing, sawing, burring, crimping, trimming, framing, riveting, drilling and reaming
• Measure parts with micrometers and calipers to verify dimensions
• May modify incomplete and complete assemblies to incorporate changes to structure and verify quality in accordance with statistical process or other control procedures
• Required ability to be certified for a half & full face respirator
• Adhere to all required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and safety guidelines and regulations
• Work and communicate in environments with ambient noise
• Work in a variety of spaces/positions; spaces may include small, enclosed, awkward, and elevated areas. Positions may include bending, twisting, kneeling, crawling, ladders, and working overhead
• Ability to work flexible, changing shifts, including weekends

• 6 am - 4:30 pm (M-Th 4x10s)
• 4:30 pm - 3 am (M-Th 4x10s)
• 2 am - 12:30 pm (M-Th 4x10s)
• 6 am - 6:30 pm (Fr-Sun 3x12s)

• High School diploma or GED and hobby/technical related experience in mechanical, sheet metal, composites, body work, electrical, or other dexterous activities
• Must be able to perform moderate strenuous physical and repetitious work including bending, stooping, kneeling, lifting up to 25 pounds, and working overhead
• Must be able to access small, confined spaces and work in an enclosed environment
• Must successfully complete and pass the “ASTAR New Hire Training / Compliance” within a reasonable time period as defined by the company
• Ability to pass medical/respiratory evaluation to obtain and maintain respirator clearance and compliance with respirator fitting requirements
• Ability to obtain and maintain Secret DoD Clearance within a reasonable period of time

• Experience with structural subassemblies such as rudders, flaps and stabilizers
• E-2D experience
• Experience on an aerospace manufacturing new production line
• Active Secret DoD Clearance last investigated within the last 5 1/2 years
• Knowledge of common tools and ability to record and understand precise measurements
• Completion of an A&P certificate program or AFAB Program OR AFAB St

Primary Level Salary Range: $34,300.00 - $57,100.00. The final offer considers scope, responsibilities, candidate experience, education, and market conditions.
