The Medical Assistant is responsible for performing a variety of clinical and administrative duties including preparing patients for medical examination, charting medical histories, maintaining medical records, scheduling patient appointments, and other clerical tasks. The role also provides information to patients so they may fully utilize and benefit from clinical services.

• Physical examination preparations, point of care testing, vital signs, vaccines, phlebotomy, drug administration including injections, prescription verification with physician’s orders, minor surgery assistance, and bio-hazard waste disposal.
• Environmental responsibilities: restocking and cleaning exam/procedure rooms, maintaining infection control, cleaning sterilizer according to scheduled maintenance program, and keeping appropriate records.
• Clerical responsibilities: sending/receiving patient medical records, prior authorizations, referral information, completing forms/requisitions, verifying insurance coverage and patient demographics, managing and updating charts.
• Patient care responsibilities: scheduling and patient flow, assisting patients for exam preparation, collecting patient history, charting, and relaying instructions to patients.
• Adhering to OSHA guidelines, quality control methods, and the MA scope of practice.
• Performing all other duties as assigned by management within job scope.

• High school diploma (required education).
• Either 1 year of providing direct care as a MA or related role in healthcare OR graduate from a MA program obtaining a certification or registration as a MA.
• 2 years or more of experience in a physician practice (preferred experience).
• BLS certification (required certification).
