Overview
The Registered Nurse Float III provides individualized nursing care services within the standards of nursing practice: assessment, diagnosis, planning implementation, evaluation, and patient health education. This RN Float III will float between the Med Surg and Critical Care areas or other areas as assigned.
Responsibilities- Perform accurate and complete assessments on patients within established time frames; request consults as indicated. Establish and update a patient plan of care based on periodic assessments.
- Assist with providing for the physical comfort and safety of patients (e.g., bathing and linen changes, administration of medications, dietary intake, and other necessary treatments). Ensure security of patient’s personal items and report discrepancies to supervisor in a timely fashion.
- Attend rounds with physicians as indicated, assist with exams, and discuss patient progress. Review and implement physician’s orders.
- Provide concise bedside report regarding patients' status to the on-coming shift.
- Demonstrate proper procedure for obtaining, charging for, and returning supplies/equipment and maintain adequate supply levels through accurate inventory control.
- Obtain and verify consent forms.
- Supervise and give assignments to staff assigned to their patients.
- Recognize and intervene in life-threatening emergencies, including administration of emergency drugs and defibrillator or other emergency treatment.
- Regularly evaluate patient’s level of pain using an approved pain scale, as evidenced by documentation in the medical record.
- Intervene in a timely manner to alleviate patient’s pain and evaluate the effectiveness of relief efforts, as evidenced by documentation in the medical record.
- Educate patients and their families on pain management as documented in the medical record.
- Perform QA initiatives related to core Measures and Flagler Hospital Admission Standards. Provide and document patient education based on assessed needs, including family and patient preferences in teaching as appropriate.
- A minimum of sixteen (16) shifts per quarter to maintain competent performance.
- Work two (2) major holidays per year.
- Work four (4) weekend shifts every quarter (defined as Saturday 7am–Monday 7am).

Education:
Associate degree in nursing - Required Experience:
3 years of acute care nursing - Preferred Experience:
5+ years of critical care experience, traveler experience
