SummaryThe Process Engineering Technician assists Engineering in onboarding exciting new programs supporting Mil‑Aero, Defense, and Space customers. The role involves product development, creating & maintaining work instructions, qualification testing, prototype construction, customer return resolutions, and process/productivity improvements. It supports plant safety, product quality, on‑time delivery, and continuous improvement projects.
Essential Job Functions- Complete 1st build and New Product Introduction in accordance with customer requirements.
- Set up and operate equipment such as molding/potting equipment, solder stations, electronic or pneumatic crimp tooling, and test equipment for prototype construction, product development, and process/productivity improvements.
- Understand and interpret product/work order requirements, inspection techniques, and test procedures.
- Review customer data packets: drawings, parts lists, specifications, and manufacturing standards.
- Support production operators through clarification and demonstration of documentation, processes, and procedures.
- Observe production runs for compliance with proper methods and procedures.
- Participate in value stream team, productivity, product quality, safety, and waste meetings/projects.
- Compile, analyze, and summarize process data.
- Create Standard Work documentation to support production.
- Engage in continuous improvement exercises and projects to meet metric expectations.
- Other duties may be assigned.

Education & Experience- I – Engineering Technician I: 0‑3 years experience. High school diploma or GED with 1‑year of CIT DSC Technician experience, Lead OJT, or 1‑year external cable & wire harness technician experience; OR AA/AAS Degree with no technician experience required.
- II – Engineering Technician II
: 3‑5 years experience. High school diploma or GED with 3‑5 years in cable & wire harness engineering technician role; OR BS degree in a technical discipline (excluding BSEE or BSME) with no technician experience required. - III – Engineering Technician III
: 5+ years experience. High school diploma or GED with 5+ years in cable & wire harness engineering technician role; OR BS degree in a technical discipline (excluding BSEE or BSME) with 3+ years of technician experience required; OR BSME or BSEE Degree with no technician experience required.
- Read, write, speak, and understand English.
- Interpret instructions in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
- Read and interpret customer drawings, wire schematics, and technical documentation.
- Use appropriate tooling and manufacturing processes to build cable and wire harnesses per customer specifications.
- Apply algebraic and statistical tools for product and process analysis.
- Write reports, business correspondence, and procedures.
- Use MS Office (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint) and project management tools such as charter and Smartsheet.
- Hands‑on experience with solder, crimp, banding, and securing tooling.
- Experience or certification with IPC‑A‑620, J‑STD‑001, Space Addendum, and/or NASA 8739.4.
- Knowledge of electrical testing for continuity, open/short, miss‑wire, insulation resistance, HIPOT.
- Experience with Cirris test equipment, Milli‑ohm bond testing, multimeter use.
- Hands‑on experience with soldering and crimping of wires and interconnect devices.
- Use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk or hear.
- Stand and walk frequently; sit, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl occasionally.
