Position SummaryThe Gifted Teacher, under the general supervision of the school principal(s), supports student success and growth by delivering district-approved curriculum through engaging, research-based instruction. The position addresses the intellectual, social, emotional, and physical needs of students; differentiates instruction using data to meet individual learning needs; and creates a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment. The Classroom Teacher monitors and documents student progress and collaborates with colleagues, families, and community partners to support instructional goals and student achievement.
EssentialDuties And Responsibilities
- Designs and delivers curriculum aligned with district goals, objectives, and instructional standards.
- Establishes and maintains a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment that promotes individualized and small-group instruction.
- Demonstrates understanding of the intellectual, social, emotional, and physical development of the assigned age group.
- Utilizes research-based instructional strategies to actively engage students in meaningful learning experiences.
- Develops and implements lesson plans and instructional materials that result in high-quality learning experiences and maximize instructional time.
- Uses data to differentiate content, process, product, and learning environments to meet individual student learning needs.
- Monitors and assesses student learning on an ongoing basis and adjusts instructional methods to support student growth.
- Maintains accurate, complete, and timely records of student achievement and attendance in accordance with district and building procedures and policies.
- Builds and maintains effective communication with students and parents/guardians to encourage family engagement and support student learning.
- Implements and enforces school and district behavior expectations to promote a positive and effective learning environment.
- Collaborates with colleagues and community partners to support instructional goals and student success.
- Participates in faculty meetings, professional learning communities, and required district/building professional development.
- Selects and utilizes appropriate instructional materials, resources, and tools consistent with district curriculum requirements.
- Engages in ongoing professional development to remain current with best practices, instructional strategies, and developments in the educational field.
- Bachelors or masters degree from an accredited college or university.
- Missouri teaching certification in Gifted K-12
OR
- Elementary 1-6 or Middle School 5-8 certification (
NOTE:
These certificate holders would need to apply for a Temporary Authorization Certificate in gifted education. To maintain the TAC for the following year, staff members must complete 9 credit hours within the year.) - Strong classroom management and communication skills.

Travel Requirements- Travels to school district buildings and professional meetings as required.

- Knowledge of elementary school reading curriculum and concepts.

Work Hours:
7.25 hours per day; 5 days per week
Work calendar: 189 days (current calendar)
FLSA Status:
Exempt
Salary:
Commensurate with years of full-time teaching experience. Service credit is awarded on a year-by-year basis, with a maximum of 20 years recognized. (Certified Teacher Salary Schedule )
